Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys - I'm looking for a CD changer that connects to the OE CD Player Head Unit from a 2001 996. I think these are pretty standard, but am not sure of model numbers and the like. In any case I need the unit, mounting bracket, and connecting cable. Does anyone have a solid working model they're not using? Please PM with price and details - thanks.

POST 2Original post

Here are two on Ebay right now. You see them on Ebay all the time as many owners remove them to put in aftermarket. Both of these seem to be for early model 996, i.e. for pre-MOST models. I think it was in 2002 that 996's went to Most (fiber optic bus). These may be a little high in price. If you are patient you may find one at a lower price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...QQcmdZViewItem

When I updated my 996 to iPod, I removed my CD changer from the car. It is just sitting in the attic, and is available. PM me if interested.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
