Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If one is interested in buying a used car off the internet, either through a US dealer or autotrader.com/eBay.com, exactly how does one arrange for the PPI? It seems that there isn't enough time to arrange for a PPI for some of these cars. If a car comes up for sale, it may be gone in 24hrs if it is a hot seller. On the other hand, if it has been sitting on the market for a while, it may have had several PPI's while it is sitting on the lot. Is there a way to access any previous PPI's that a specific car has had done? Is there any way to put in a "conditional" bid for a Porsche on any of these sites, pending a successful inspection?

i don't bet. i contact the seller after the car didn't get sell on ebay.

POST 3Original post

I bought through autotrader and simply made the PPI a condition to sale. I would think that you would have to contact the seller on an Ebay auction and ask them to accept an PPI acceptable to you as a condition to sale for your winning bid. I would certainly want some type of written confirmation of that prior to bidding. I had my PPI by the closest dealer, which turned out fine.

POST 4Original post

I bought my car on eBay in another province. I contacted the seller and they agreed to a CDN$1000 deposit that was refundable if it failed (ie. had significant issues) on a PPI that I was to arrange and pay for. Once I had that agreement in writing, I hit the "Buy it Now" button and flew up to check it out and drove back. Marc
