Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When I start my 99 C2 first thing in the morning, I often hear what sounds like a 'whirring'...sort of like a pump or motor cycling fluid through the system. It persists for about a minute, and then ceases. Never occurs again....until the next morning. Does anyone know what this is?

POST 2Original post

I have the same sound. I believe that it is an exhaust fan that clears fuel vapors from within the engine compartnment....but I too, would like confirmation of this sound.

POST 3Original post

Fuel vapors from the engine compartment?? I have heard of that on motorboats, but not on Porsches. There is a fan in the engine compartment, but it is for cooling and operates on a thermostat.

POST 4Original post

It is the secondary air pump that will come on for a minutes on cold start up. This is normal and necessary.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, always good to know things are working "normally".
