Assuming I ever get my Aero 1 bumper and side skirts, I've been considering paiting my hood. It has several scratches and chips I can cover somehwat with the "for black only" wax and a bit of touch up paint, but everytime I wax the car I have to redo it. would painting the hood be a bad idea. Would it ever match the fenders? Would it look better because of new paint on the bumper? It is a 2000 but has been exposed very little to sunlight, only while driving.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

For me, repainting a car is not a good idea unless it's absolutely necessary. While I think that the ability to match the paint is not an issue these days, I would be concerned that the hood, particularly, the hood, because of the impact of chipping on a repaint. The original paint would be far better to repel chip damage than the new paint job. Again, it's only my .02 as a non-expert. Good luck and let us know what you eventually do.
