Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is it my imagination or is it becoming comandeered as a marketing tool?

POST 2Original post

I agree, much less content, more ads. And the last few issues push on the electric versions, well that's just pure marketing by Porsche.

POST 4Original post

To be fair, this is happening to our society in general. We used to be of substance, not fluff. I see this in other areas also, not just the Porsche world.

POST 5Original post

How dare any of you speak of PANO in this manner. It is the monthly bible of the Porsche world! Everything it does is perfect...simply perfect! Seriously I have always found the magazine full of it's self and quite pretentious including the people who write in to comment and seem to always include their former/current P-car collection, which is always grand, exotic and numerous. Agreed on the "electric" issue...BORING! ...and what's up with the monthly cartoons lately. Jeebus!

POST 6Original post

I appreciate Panorama for one thing and one thing only - whoever does their covers is very good at their job and I like displaying it on my table month-to-month. I honestly never open it.

POST 7Original post

Since I'm a member of the Upper Canada Region PCA chapter, I get Panorama but also get the Provinz which is the local magazine. Pics in Panorama are way better but Provinz has more interesting articles. Likely because they are local to me. Interestingly, in 2000, we purchased a cottage. Previous owners subscribed to Cottage Life Magazine and left a bunch of copies. Great articles about things like pumps, boating etc. I subscribed for over 10 years. I always look forward to March with the their boating special supplement. Then, about 8 or 9 years ago, I found myself no longer reading it. It became more about million dollar properties, decorating etc. Much the same as how Panorama has become. Less meat IMHO.

POST 8Original post

I find Panorama interesting (until they start drooling over the latest hybrid Mr. Fusion turbo encapsulator powered Cayenne...yawn). Unfortunately, as I get older, I realize I am getting left behind. I don't care about Porsche SUV's, EV's, etc. I like air cooled engines, the smell and power of gasoline and being in control of my car's systems. Yes, I'm a caveman. For now, PCA does a good job of serving those who think like me. But, it won't be too much longer and the shift will occur where the focus will be on those who don't know how to drive a manual, who want a self driving car to take them to work, and think air cooled engines belong in airplanes or lawnmowers. Until then, I'll stay a member of PCA and keep reading some of the articles in Panorama

POST 9Original post

Ecch, I agree....Then again I'm just a cranky old codger.... I do real the ads however...amazing what people "think" their cars are worth !!

POST 10Original post

It is fair and accurate to say that some time ago, PCA became a marketing tool for PCNA. No doubt about it.

Totally agree! Makes me feel like I'm 13 again...and believe me, you don't want to see me at 13!

So true and so sad. Is there really any difference between a Taycan and a Tesla? Does anyone even really care?

POST 13Original post

I agree, the last few issues have been a little boring.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Empty fluff stories. Guy gets car, drops it off with X, Y, and Z, presumably writes big checks, collects car in between board meetings, twists key, car goes vroom, (oooh, more, more), then stores it in the personal museum and goes on happy ever after. 6 pages. Next spread. Same but different. Pretty much useless and empty of insights for those of us who want our involvement with our cars to be interactive. Remember that this was once the magazine of the PORSCHE CLUB of AMERICA and had a club vibe of by members, supporting members, and enthusiast interests. Other than the 2 paragraph tech responses the rest is mostly marketing gloss. My old issues from 20 years ago are more useful even if the info is dated.

I wish they had articles on real DIY owners and their adventures on keeping their cars going.

^^^^ This !! About 95% of mine are still in the plastic wrappers (decades of them)..

I think they believe we all wear Stefano Ricci three piece suits and would never think about opening the engine hood much less look underneath the car! I had to laugh when I found out my 2005 C4S had an electric oil gauge plus a dipstick. Figured the dipstick must be for the hired help or the lowly mechanic. I must be in rarified air...and if so totally out of place,

POST 19Original post

I've only been getting the magazine for 6 months and usually just look at the ads for european driving vacations, LOL, and the classified section. However in the November issue i happened to see a photo taken at the local PCA monthly ice cream social and there i was, along with my wife, albeit at a distance. No autographs please.
