Ordered the PSE for my 2003 996 and thought it was coming with quad tips. Wrong. Dealer says they are 700+/- but will cut a deal at around 500. Apparently for the 2003 model year they are sold seperate and are much more expensive than for a 997. Wondering if my stock oval tips will fit the PSE and also if anyone knows of a cheaper way to get the nice quad tips usually seen with the PSE. Don't want to install the exhaust to find out the oem tips don't fit it and haven't taken them off either to see if they will go on the new PSE that's still sitting in a box. Anyone with experience in this area?

Yes stock oval tips do fit. It'll give the car a stealth look with sound to enjoy. The tips are always sold separately. Dansk has one that has the look at less price but it's not that much lower than 500. I don't like the dual ring tip since it's very fake and you can even see the exhaust pipe. Plus the carbon built up between the rings make it look more like 1 ring anyways.
I love the Porshe quad tips and think they are a nice touch on stock or pse exhaust. Brandywine sells them for a very good price. I think they were under 500 for the pair.
Why put a fake quad-tip on a dual exit?? I mean if the exhaust exit actually broke into 4 pipes that woul dbe one thing, but that's not even the case? Go custom and make it a true quad tip!
I am not aware of the PSE kit coming with any tips, quad or otherwise. Some third party exhaust systems do come with tips at extra cost. The only PSE installations I have seen were all completed with the car's original tips.
Going to just put the stock tips back on after the exhaust goes in next Wednesday. May revisit the quad idea at a later date. Thanks for the input, especially djantlive, on how the oem ovals do fit the pse. Thanks all.
A good exhaust shop will be able to make you whatever you want for far less than the Porsche tips....Here are mine...its was under $400 out the door including tax and labor.
What did they do? Cut apart a 2nd tip, cut it, and weld it back on?
The quad tips look pretty fake from behind. I had wide ovals on my 993 with RSRs. I liked that set up! Go with stock first. The sound will make you forget about your cd collection! Steve
I bought the TEQUIPMENT LARGE OVALS and love em. (see pic) Have to agree with most that the pseudo quad tips just don't look right. But the itty bitty standard ones look too small. Large ovals? Just right
Anyone have a high angle pic of the larger ovals? -Keith
What angle exactly are you looking for?
Higher up in the rear, to where you can see down onto the tips...IE where everyone sees your exhaust...
Is this better?.......
I had a muffler shop make my fart can out of a folger's tin. I think it Warholesque.
Yes better, i guess im just having a hard time seeing the difference! -Keith
I can post a pic of the original tips as well. There is a HUGE difference.
here are the little tips
KEWL! I never had factory tips so i was blind to the improvement! -Keith
