Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Couldn't find a thread that discusses great driving routes. Thought we need a place to capture fun routes and share ideas. So, this weekend I led a group of Pcars on a Route 66 weekend. Started in Ash Fork, AZ, through Seligman , Hackberry, Kingman, Oatman and down to Lake Havasu City for the night. Came back to Prescott on the back roads near Bagdad. Two days of amazing driving, too many twists and turns to count and some very light traffic open stretches! Great scenery and crazy places!

POST 2Original post

We took a drive south of Lake Havasu a few years back that was absolutely wonderful. Head down 95 and cross Parker Dam to the California side of the Colorado River and continue south along the river for about 30 miles until you get to Parker. Its a fun drive that took about two-and-a-half hours round trip. Not a speedy trip but a fun drive.

That's is a nice drive, following the river. Drive Vail Road much?

Nothing beats HWY 1 on the coast of CA Bought my Boxster S in 2003 & drove back to LA on HWY ! It was like having you own personal roller coaster !

Texas Hill Country - Great twisties, some high speed gradual turns, you name it, it's there! For those unaware, that's the area Northwest of San Antonio, and directly west of Austin. I've lead tours out there where we put over 300 miles on our cars, I think the smiles run in the millions...

Here's a link to the thread for drives in the SF Bay Area in Northern CA: SF Bay Area - Best Driving Roads For A Sunday Morning Blast.

POST 7Original post

I did route 2 in MA (Mohawk Trail) over the summer and just did some back road trip to Portland ME last week. I love the driving but I think what makes it for me is the people and the stopping every so often to try things that aren't local to me such as a donut shop or a brewery.

Brockway Mountain Drive. At the tip of the Keweenaw peninsula in Michigan's upper peninsula... It's even nice at slow speeds.

Up in the Appalachians there is some of the best driving roads in the world, especially near Deals Gap in eastern Tennessee/ Western North Carolina close to the Smoky Mountains. Our Local PCA Club does a 3 day trip every October there and it is fabulous driving and beautiful scenery !! You have The Tail of The Dragon (US129) , Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner 28 , Foothills Parkway , Smoky Mountain Loop , Devils Triangle , Blue Ridge Parkway , The Gambler NC209 , Diamondback 226, Devil's Staircase , Six Gap North Georgia , The Snake US421

A few local favorites ; Highland Valley Rd is super tight and full of elevation changes, as well as blind corners hiding sand/gravel. Lyons Valley Rd has a little of everything, hairpins to wide-open throttle sections. Palomar Mountain is legendary, but overcrowded with idiots, especially on the weekend. YouTube is full of ride-along videos for all of these.

Pines to Palms Highway (Hwy 74) into Palm Desert. This is where the opening scene from It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World was filmed. You Tube You Tube
