Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If so all I need now is to find the Sachs Sport Clutch kit for $800 or less. Any leads or am I dreaming?

POST 2Original post

$800 is kinda cheap. If your 996 is not supercharged or otherwise modified for substantial increase in power, the sport clutch is really overkill. You can get the stock Sach clutch kit for less than $500.

POST 3Original post

I'm sure you already know this but it might be a good idea to put a new RMS in there while your at it.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I already have a new RMS, thanks though.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I see. Another question is, is the flywheel covered under warranty? The Dealership charges 1700 for a new clutch and install. Now if something is wrong with the flywheel will my CPO cover it? If so maybe I should just pay the $1700 I found a Sach's Clutch Kit(not the sport model) for $375 + the 599 + the possibility of a bad flywheel could put me right back at $1700. What would you do?

POST 6Original post

You should not need a new flywheel (unless you are expereience specific problems). At worse, you can have it turned down. Although a dealer will probably not do this. Unless there is runout or ezcessive burning of the flywheel, turning it down is not necessary. Great deal on the kit and install.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Now I see a flywheel for the 2000 996 one is $240 and the other is dual mass for $700+. Which do we have?

POST 9Original post

Can anyone explain the difference between a "regular" flywheel and and dual mass flywheel? Thanks

POST 10Original post

A dual mass flywheel is assembled from two pieces an inner and outer ring with a spring action between them. The idea is to provide a harmonic-dampener effect so engine vibrations won't enter the transmission and cause a gear rattle at idle. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...lr%3D%26sa%3DN
