I am thinking about converting my 1999 996 from a daily driver to a weekend car. Move from a 15k per year all weather car to a no winter/ rain and driven under 5k miles annually pcar....a garage queen....am I fu*ked up in my thinking? @ 45k miles should I be thinking "track car"...no accidents, no track time so far...I love my996. No RMS no issues at all....a silver /boxster red coupe....just a great pcar that I would like to keep for 10 more years...comments/Thoughts

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Go ahead and retire it to the garage, it earned it's keep. But, you should track it at least once.
Don't turn it into a full out track car just yet, you may find you don't like it. But definitely try some track time, start with the Porsche Driving Experience and then try a few local DEs.
do as they were designed to do - use it; particularly if you want to keep for that timeline 45k or 90k miles no one will know but your odometer, your brakes and you!
Don't treat it like an unplayed piano......drive it!!
You can try out DE events with a minimal investment such as a helmet and fire ext mounted properly in the car and your good to go, if you like it then take it from there.
