Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. From one Milwaukeeian to another: welcome! I too have a '99 - a C4 coupe. I have the PSS-9's on my car... if you ever want to go for a ride to check them out let me know. Other than that I've done Fabspeed's and a short shift.... the Fabspeed's sound nice but I doubt they do anything for HP - ditto for any of the "intakes" that are out there.... I think the supercharge route is around $11k-ish ??? That may be my "yay, the car is paid for" present in a couple years.... trev
here's the standard response. all the bolt on mods you do will help the high end, soften the low end and will cost you some dough for little gain. i drive in the upper revs so i thought it was worthwhile for me. engine mods: free flow muffers exhaust headers cold air intake chip tuning x51 but i don't think it's available for pre '02 cars previously mentioned (except for the chipping and that's debatable) will not stress the engine, just frees up the breathing. suspension mods: bilstein pss9 (adjustable to soften up the ride or stiffen it for the track) h&r coilovers (the car feels really planted, like em but firm and not adjustable) ROW m030 (no x74 for you) lowering springs + biltein sp shocks
Fabspeed exhaust and a specifically for your car programed chip should get you close IF you are able to get 93 gas.
turbo951 is right, that will get you there.
Dallasboats: I noticed your car in the sig is fairly low and that you have an aerokit (which is exactly what I wanted to do)--do you have problems with speedbumps or daily driving issues (i.e. hitting your aerokit on potholes or getting in and out of malls with speedbumps)? Thanks, MT
Hi, yes, it's very low but I love it. I don't drive the car very much so it does not bother me. You have to be careful with inclines, bumps, etc. Also, the aero cars are like rock scoops. I've never had a car that seems to attract rock chips as much as this one. The car is awesome to drive in it's lowered state. It's so much more fun. If you get an aero kit, I'd suggest a factory kit made of the poly material. I've bumped a couple of curbs and if it was aftermarket I'm sure it would be broken.
I have a question about chip upgrades. I understand how they help an automatic transmission (shift points), but how would they help a manual? Raise the redline? Also, can someone confirm the X51 will NOT work on pre-'02 cars? Thanks
to my understanding, porsche was a little on the conservative side and left a little bit of room for tuning further down the production. the chip tuners take advantage of this and eek out a little more power. i think they mainly work with timing and fuel delivery. i think the main components of the x51 kit are new higher lift cams and utilizes a reprogrammed ECU. they're only available for '02 and up cars. it's a pretty penny anyway and probably not worth it if not factory installed. for the same price you can get a supercharger w/ 420 HP.
