POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm thinking of selling my 02 C4S and getting a 997S. My car has 40K on it and if I can get 50 to 55 thousand for it I can walk into a 997S for the same payment. First Question is do you think I can sell quickly for that kind of money? Second is what do you think about the trade? Upgrade, equal, or stay with the C4S? Thanks in advance for you insight.

POST 2Original post

Well its a 997 and its a an S, i say go for it, I am not sure how fast you will sell yours , but why not trade it in?

POST 3Original post

I think you should be able to get 50K. Is your car a daily driver? Weekend car? Do you track? Depending on the options you get the 997S can be pretty $$$, great car but $$. You may also want to consider a preowned 996TT for the same price or much lower. Depends on what you like though. Drive a bunch of cars and then decide but keep us posted on what you do! k

POST 4Original post

if you can get 50-55k for an 02 on a trade with 40k miles I would do it and jump into something new for teh same payment. No brainer in my opinion. I have an 02 with 8k miles and these are around the trade in prces I'm hearing. That's a great deal with those miles IMO

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I may end up trading in, my friend is a dealer and I can get 48 from him. I spoke to him and he wants me to try and sell it privately first. The car is my 2nd or 3rd car depending on what order you put them in. Either way, it's a toy for me. I use it occasionally to go to work on nice days, but it's mostly a weekend car. I do some spirited driving on empty back country roads alot. I was thinking 996TT also, that way I could keep my HRE's. The first one I looked at happens to be my brothers old car which is tricked out completely and therefore is still close to 100K. I could probably drive a well equiped 997S for low 90's.

POST 6Original post

I like the 997s. My friend has a pretty tricked out 997s Black on Black, Black Techarts 20", Sport exhaust, etc. 4k miles. Paid over 115k for it and is looking for somewhere between 85-90k. Very cool car. He has it at Excll in Boca right now under consignement. Tons of Pics, check it out http://excell-auto.ebizautos.com/?_page=&_makeF=Porsche

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's funny, I was looking at that car yesterday online. I was pissed becuase I was in Boca last week. Any idea why he is selling it? It would be perfect if it had sport seats.

POST 8Original post

you can probably get low 50s for that. I've seen similar C4S' go with 40k miles for 50-53k. Unless you are totally sold on 997's, I'd really look into a 996TT over a 997S. More car and better value IMHO, and like you said, you can swap your HREs directly on...

POST 9Original post

Your miles are pretty high - now would seem to be the right time to get out and into a 997S. The TT will be like your current car, with an afterburner. The 997 is a whole new platform to explore. Go for it!

POST 10Original post

As a reference point...I just retailed (2 months ago) my '04 C4s with 11,000 miles on it for $78K...original sticker was $88,000. Carreraboy =================== '06 997 C4

POST 11Original post

40K is high miles for a 2002? You guys need to drive your cars more.

POST 13Original post

That's true... I revise my statement. Go for the 997!

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm working on it. I like cableguys friends car. I'll keep you posted. And if anyone knows someone looking for a C4S, send them my way.

POST 15Original post

I'm in the market for a 996 C4S. Are you still selling? Post some pics when you get a chance. Are you keeping the HREs? Thanks brah!!

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I almost sold it to a fellow Rennlister, but he went with a TT. I'm not marketing it, but I'm also not using it much so I would probably sell. I'll try and send you some pics over the weekend. I could sell the HRE's with the car or on Ebay after the car is sold.

POST 17Original post

I would get the 997S. Have heard nothing but great things. It will most-likely be my next move.

POST 18Original post

Wait for the 997 to get a redesign. Not unlike what Porsche did to the 996 in 2002... jmtc. Rob

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have no idea what I will end up getting. This thread was started months ago and at the time I was really leaning towards a 997S, but I don't know any more. I'll worry about it if I actually sell my C4S. But it's always fun to daydream, so any recommendations are welcome.

POST 21Original post

Good point. That will happen when the new M3 comes out, I'd guess, so in a year or so. For example, the new Z4M caused the 987S to get a 3.4L engine.

POST 22Original post

That new M3 is going to be a screamer. I love the look of the new coupe - I'm not that sold on the sedan's styling, but an M3 in that new style coupe with 400HP - wow.

POST 23Original post

I would get the 997S, it's NEW and actually faster around the 'ring than a stock 996TT. Getting a used 996TT would only be a mild upgade from what you already have( and know), might as well just sc the C4S for that matter. Same hp as a stock TT and you know the car. 997S cars are very quick on the track, nothing beats new. I see the 997S as an upgrade and the 996TT as little more than a lateral move, always move in an upward direction. That's why I speced my 997TT yesterday! As Rob said, a facelift is in the works for this summer, I'd wait and get a killer deal on a pre-lift 997S. They'll be giving them away, of course the facelift S cars will have 381hp stock.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

PM me your email and I'll send you the pics. I keep getting file to large to post them here.

POST 25Original post

I would hardly call going from the slowest, heaviest 996 powered by a RMS riddled engine to a legit dry sump engine a mild upgrade. The Turbo is so much faster than the C4Slow it's not even funny. It's got the "real" Porsche engine.

POST 26Original post

Nice job on the 997TT Chris - I saw my first one driving down the street in front of my daughters school the other day, and it was spectacular - the color looked almost lapis blue, and so was I....

POST 27Original post

email them to me at [email removed] - thanks!!

POST 28Original post

Actually, the C4s Cab is the heaviest and slowest, while the c4s cpe actually runs(ran) the 'ring faster than any c2( 996 or 993). But let's not start this battle again, I believe he was comparing a 997S vs 996TT vs current 996c4s, of the three the 997S IS the fastest around the 'ring

POST 29Original post

ok.. been lurking on this thread and in the process of upgrading my ride. here are my choices 96 Twin Turbo - $57k with 69k on the clock. 02 C4S - carbong fiber 19's hre, full body kit, stage 2 evo, 28k on the clock $58k 01 Turbo - $65k with 36k miles, stock. What do you guys think. definitely a weekend toy, hoping to track once or twice a year? Thanks

POST 30Original post

2002-04 C4S: nicest looking 911's ever made. I would never sell a 996 C4S for a 997 anything. As much as it would pain me to pass up on the extra performance of the 997's. Hope the 998 looks nothing like a VW beetle and a little more like a CGT now that its soon to be extinct.
