Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought an an 02 911 hit hard in the left front and i have a complete 01 911 Cab parts car hit in the rear. I noticed the bumper cover is different and the headlighst are different and the cd changer mounts in a diff spot. Is all the inner structure the same? Is the suspension the same? What about all the abs stuff and master etc.... SOME of it may be damaged. thanks for any help i may get it will be of great assistance as i barely know a porsche from a beetle as i have never had one before. Brad

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

wow all the action on this site and nobody knows? It should be pretty common knowledge to someone that didnt just get into porsches three days ago LOL

POST 3Original post

From 99 to 04, the biggest year to year difference was 01 to 02. I recall that something like 85% of the parts are considered "new", though that could mean that they just changed the part number. What are you trying to achieve...rebuild the 02 with the 01 parts? Or the reverse? Maybe if you asked the interchangeability question about a specific part you'd get someone to chime in. And just out of curiousity, how'd you get into this project? Seems like a massive undertaking.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

im mostly wondering about all the front inner structure/suspension, stuff like that. I am rebuilding the 02. I have always liked porsches and have wanted one for a little while now so i bought the 01 a few weeks ago and i bought the 02 yesterday, they seemed like good deals so i grabbed them. Thanks for the help.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey you guys will get a laugh out of this one, at my expense of course LOL. So anyways i decided to have a look at that 996 that i bought that was sitting in my shop. I was standing there looking at the mangled front suspension and was like WTF theres a half shaft up here, turns out this damn thing is a 4WD, parts car is a 2wd, perfect parts wont work, LOL. Live and learn i guess, told ya i barely knew these things from a beetle. So i guess there really isnt many places that have wrecked porsches for parts is there, esp this new? Guess i should head to the dealer and oder the parts that are diff? Is there a cheap place on the net that i can order new parts?? Thanks for the help.

POST 7Original post

redcad, the 85% new parts dont think that applies to the whole car. it does definetelly though for the engine, for sure, which is a totally new design engine. swap the front, rear bumper, + 2 front wings and the headlamps and you get an 02 on cars from a pre 01.

POST 8Original post

Hey turbosonoma, and interesting project but man that looks like a "big" and expensive way to go about things. I hope you got they cheap. Incidentally, I am looking for a C2 gearbox if your willing to sell it.....hint ;-) PM me if your interested. Cheers,

You'll get parts cheaper and with better service from Gert at: http://www.carnewal-europe.com/

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well after doing some quick research any which way i could have gone about owning one of these seems like an expensive way cause they are still $90000+ (CDN of course) around here. I think id take a car that was in an accident for less than 1/2 the price. Finished. Let me know what you think the gearbox is worth and i will do some research, it is just sitting here and is for sale, so let me know.
