Interesting article on USA Today, referencing JD Power Initial Quality Survey - and the good news (at least for 997.2 purchasers) is that Porsche came in #2, behind Lexus. I'm happy to see Porsche achieve such great results in this current initial quality survey as it raises the brand value. John

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

997.2 is only like 6 months old.....
Yes, I mentioned 997.2 because as my post title stated, its an INITIAL quality survey, and in this case, based on first 3 months of ownership. I don't know where Porsche was at during 996 production in terms of initial quality indicators but I suspect it wasn't immediately behind Lexus. Still, I am happy to see the Porsche brand so high on the list. I think its a differentiator between Porsche and other premium (e.g. italian sports cars) that seem engineered to be beautiful garage queens, and such high quality marks only increases that difference. Apologize, I neglected to include the link on my first post: http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/...s-survey_N.htm
