Just picked up the latest edition of Autocar here in the UK with the new 997 in it. It states that the 997 Carrera 2 will have the same 3596cc engine as the 02 996 and the Carrera S will have 3824cc with 350bhp. They are both the same engine, but the Carrera S stretched the bore by 3mm to 99mm, but with the same 82.8mm stroke. Pictures of it certainly leave me pleased that I have a facelift 996 - a far better looking car. The headlights worked on the 993, but look completely out of place on the 997. The interior is not to my liking either - looking very similar to the latest batch of BMW interiors. Again, in my opinion the 996 is far more appealing. So, with the same size engine and 25kg heavier, the 997 is actually going down in performance! I haven't had time to fully digest the article, but I will post more later. If anyone wants a copy I can scan it in.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
