Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

since i am new to 996, i post so many questions. i really appreciate all your helps. Q. I realized that when i start teh car in the morning, the fan in the engine compartment kicks in and shuts itself off in about 5 minutes. is this normal? What is the purpose of doing this? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

MY 99 ALSO DID THE SAME THING- BUT MY 01 DOES NOT- I WAS TOLD THAT ON 99'S IT HAD DO WITH EMISSIONS- GUESS THEY FIGURED OUT SOMTHING NEW AFTER 99,S

POST 3Original post

It's normal. In cold weather the fan warms the catalytic converter until the car gets to normal operating temperature.
