Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know if the carbon/aluminum or leather/aluminium shifters are shorter and fatter than the standard shifter for the 996? The standard shifter doesn't have the alu ring around the base any ideas? thanks Chucksta

POST 2Original post

No they are not faster. I cant say Ive noted any difference on mine either. Hope this helps.

POST 3Original post

The carbon shifter I installed is shorter and has a fatter grip, I also installed a RUF short shifter...great combo

POST 4Original post

I had a regular shifter in my Boxster S and have the Alum/Carbon in my 996. The 996 shifter is definitely fatter, but I don't remember the S shifter enough to tell whether is was taller.

POST 5Original post

Yes, All you have to do is measure. Clearly shorter and wider. IMHO-better. Mark

POST 6Original post

And looks way better too. Dido on the alum/carbon-I have one myself and its shorter and wider. Regards. Mike

POST 7Original post

Sorry. I didnt read your post. I thought it said faster not fatter-I got this on the brain because I was going to do th B and M install. I feel really dim. The tequipment **** is , of course fatter and shorter than the standard trim. However, when changing it beware-it is relly stuck in. I bashed my chin really hard with my fist when doing the install!!
