Do you have any regrets after buying a Targa? I ask because it seems to have reached top of my list. I did own an 02 C2 Cab. and loved it. Didn't do as much top down as I thought I would but I think that was mainly because I lived in the Keys and the sun was brutal. The Targa Pros that I have heard, Aesthetics of car profile, larger opening than sunroof, and hatchback. Cons maybe more heatup in sun, reduced rear visibility with top open( although I am not sure how that works), complicated possibly troublesome window device and maybe more rattles. My cab top seemed pretty complicated but worked OK. Extra 150 lbs. OK with me. So if you have owned or own a 996 Targa, tell me what you think. many thanks RBC

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It does heat up fast, but tint all around including the roof help quite a bit. It has a motorized sunshade, but it isn't enough in direct sunlight. It's obviously closer to a cab than a coupe, but it doesn't have the open feel with the top back like a cab if that's what you are interested in. Hatchback is nice, but that is some expensive damage if you are not careful since you are reaching over panels to get at it.
Certainly you don't feel like being in a cab. The feeling it's just like a really big sunroof which specially at night looks nice and feels quite comfortable in terms of sound. I can say that the roof rattles a bit but can't actually tell when it does it more. I found some relation with the temperature and humidity but still trying to figure out what is the factor causing it to rattle some times. I suppose there are some solutions out there to minimize these noises. However when I feel that the noise increases I just open the top and everything stops. I didn't have any issues with rear visibility. However if you don't open the sunshade after full opening of the roof then you certainly can't see behind. You need to open the sunshade and everything becomes almost normal in terms of visibility. You just have limitation on the height since the height of viewing gets higher. In general I am quite happy with my buy since I find it really comfortable that I can open the rear window and put everything in the back seats from there!
