Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hello Gang The RUF team has just released photos of the new shifter that will be available for delivery in april....fits all boxsters/996/996tt price is $ 310.00 Regards

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

sorry, these are the only pictures

POST 4Original post

Looks very nice. Two questions: 1-How is it installed 2-Is the aluminum real metal or plastic? Thanks!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Slips over like the factory one and is complete with the leather boot. real aluminum...

POST 6Original post

Asgar, let's have some specifics on the installation. "Slips over" is too general. What steps are need to remove the old assembly and install the new one? The Ruf shifter looks great. However, I am sure it is not as easy as installing a new set of floor mats. Porsche owners are concerned about the time and complexity of any installation. Owners who have painted consoles are especially concerned about the removal process. We are interested. Please provide details.

POST 7Original post

Sorry to jump in on your thread Asgar, but I had these pics lying around... Revmoval and install of shift **** is very easy. Should take10-15mins tops. Step 1:Pull up the leather boot by placing two fingers in as shown in the picture and gently pulling untill the clips release. Don't be afraid to give it a little tug, but be careful not to scratch the console. Pull the boot all the way up to expose an allen key screw. Unscrew this and the *** is free...pull straight up and the *** will remove. Reinstallation will be very easy as RUF is supplying a new boot so you will not have to deal with the zip tie or anything, just slide the new on one, tighten the screw back in, pull the boot down and just push it in untill it "clicks". Nothing to it...very very easy, toughest part is pulling up the boot, but I have found the way I explained to work best...just be very careful when removing not to scratch the console!!

POST 8Original post

Thank you so much. It does look easy. I think I will buy one! Would you recommend putting tape or anything around the painted console just in case it gets scraped? Mine will be speed yellow too. Thanks.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Evan for the install information,

POST 10Original post

No problem...damn hope my boss doesn't see i just got you a customer J/K dertub:Tape might help...my stepmom has a 996TT with a white console and I have not had a problem removing it...just be very careful and don't rush.
