The saga of my 996 rebuild has taken a bad turn. 3 days after getting it back from the shop, I am driving home on the highway and suddenly hear a loud sound coming from the engine. I pulled over to see whether there was anything under the car... nothing. I get back in, start the car... sounds normal. Put it in first gear and try to move.... nothing! Second... nothing! Reverse... nothing! I had it towed to the shop and the tow truck driver said it seems like my transmission went. When he rolled it off the truck, the car rolled while it was in gear! No clutch, just rolled and made a grinding sound every few feet. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. I bought the car, had it in the shop for 3 months, drove it 3 days and now it seems it's dead again! I think I'll go crazy waiting to find out what it is before the shop opens on Monday. Anyone have any ideas?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

R.I.P. transmission.
Any chance it might be something minor?
NO, sorry!!!!
Anyone want to guess how much it might cost me to fix? I also have another dilema... It's been 3 days since I got it out of the shop where the mechanic put the engine and transmission into the car. He didn't sell me the motor or trans, just put the car back together. Now, 3 days later the transmission goes. Does not seem like random coincidence that the transmission went bad so quickly. I don't know whether to even bring it back to that shop.
Turns out it was just my CV Joint. Does that make sense?
