Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am looking at both the EVO and the Aire Tek high flow fresh air intakes. Has anyone had any experience with either of these makes as far as quality and performance. were there any problems with installation or compatability with the 996? After reviewing some possible upgrades this seems to be one of the most obvious to add some performance without sacrificing warranty or long term wear and tear.

POST 2Original post

Adding "some" performance.... Oem system really only restricts incoming airflow about 5 to 7% and this at or near max RPM (max airflow) and WOT. So, recovering that 7% means absolutely NO restrictions whatsoever and only applies in an exceptional circumstance. Otherwise, go for it.

POST 3Original post

I have the Airetek box and it has had no problems. Just watch the oiling of the KN filters. It does make a large "sucking sound" at idle. I have a loud exhaust so you don't hear the airbox unless you have the top down at idle. Philip.
