I've been following the recents posts regarding extended warranties with some interest since my '02 cab has 35,000 mi. I called the service manager at my dealer, Storms Motors in Southampton, to get his opinion. He was uniformly negative about all the extended warranty companies out there stating that the few he had dealt with would not pay the dealer's labor rate and wanted him to use used parts that they supplied. He said Storms could not identify an extended warranty company that they were willing to offer to their customers. He did also state that he thought that Porsche might be on the verge of offering a factory extended warranty since a lot of manufacturers are offering it. He said Audi had just announced its extended warranty program and that Porsche often follows Audi in matter of this sort. Just thought I'd pass this along.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had the same feedback from service manager at my dealership. I did not listen and spent money, which are held up by bankrupcy of WarrantyGold. My opinion, is unless your dealer will sell you and stand behind it, it's toss up.
i just purchased a warrantybynet.com extended warranty on my car. I did a BBB search and nothing out of the ordinary showed up. The company has been around for 11 years so hopefully they won't go bust. They also gave me a good rate and as of so far been very responsive. Bob
I have an aftermarket warranty for my BMW through warrantybynet.com. Although I still have a few open issues with the dealership, warrantybynet.com paid the entire claim (minus the $100 deductible), which was nearly $2000. They even covered the tax, which the dealer said was NOT covered. Stay away from WideWorld of Cars in Nanuet, NY. Their recent change in ownership has been a nightmare, just my opinon. regards,
Hey Jon, Good to hear that warrantybynet.com is paying out big repairs like that!!! Bob
