Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have noticed that the outside temperature reading on my OBC and PCMII are often off by 1 degree from each other. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there any fix? JM

POST 2Original post

Not only that but look at your total distance driven in your PCMII monitor under the trip menu if you have not reset it...mine is about 50 miles more than on my OBC...and the OBC is suppose to be official, but according to PCMII i've driven more. I suppose with regards to the temperature both systems treat the data coming in from the thermostat differently. CMOS based thermostats have a margin of error of about +/-1% and it depends on how the data is rounded off. I've built a digital temperature gauge out of a Motorola Processor and a CMOS Transistor and it's really easy to get different reading from the same data if it's being calculated at two different locations at the same time. The data is being rounded up or down at least 4 times by the time you convert it from a voltage difference to a stepping of 1 - 256 then an integer then into degree C or F.
