Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've done some pretty elaborate custom audio setups on my previous vehicles. Having leased my car, I don't really want to "butcher" my interior and stereo. I was just planning on adding some bass in my Hi-Fi sucky stock system. What do you guys think of a pre-amplified subwoofer "add on" system. Say a Bazooka tube or an Infinity Bass link? My other question is, one the factory dash speakers, are there two seperate wires that connect the tweeters and the 4 inch mid-range? Or is there just one wire paralleled to each speakers? The reason I ask, is what if I were just to upgrade the stock units with after market seperates, will I still need the after market crossover boxes? or are the speakers already crossovered from the factory amp?

POST 2Original post

The bazooka tube is OK if you're not too discriminating. The Infinity sounds pretty good, but you have to do a little tuning to it. Haven't heard the Kenwood one. You'll probably have to try to hear them yourself, although most car audio showrooms are not set up to demo subwoofers. Hopefully you can find a shop where they might have one mounted in a car. Good Luck!

oakland996: I went with Reus Audio's System. They won't cut up your interior like others and all components are hidden very very well (sub are mounted ON the spare tire) Plus: when you return your car, they will take off the system on your 996 and install a system in your next car for the price of the labor only(don't remember what they quoted me, but I remember was cheap for their level of work.) My is a lease too so that was a concern. If you do a search under Reus, You'll see nothing but good things said about them. www.reusaudio.com Peter
