Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am considering trading in my current P car. i want to upgrade. many web sites to determine a cars value do not seem place any value on the options on a particular car. eg. black book values ( www.cars.com ). certainly P-car dealers seem to mark up a specific car if they are loaded with options, but i have read that they don't consider options to increase the value of the car when trading in. it just does not make sense to value a basic C2 vs a C2 loaded (technic, aero, 18's, etc). any thoughts on this issue thanks roy

POST 2Original post

As a delaer myself what I'd usually do is DEDUCT for a car that's totally stripped down rather than add for one that's loaded. As long as the car has reasonable options someone will buy it. If it's totally stripped that's a tough sale. If the car really has almost every option it may increase the price slightly (i.e. if it has nav or something like that) but on the other hand I've seen some fully loaded cars I'd pay less for. It seems like alot of the really loaded up cars are ugly as hell because along with all the convenience items someone will order something like boxster red full leather with carbon fiber.... EEEK!

POST 3Original post

I think generally desirable options have some value add, things like Nav, aerokit, X51, M030, 18's, or Bose but it depends on the buyer. However, most of the interior options, such as leather/carbon/aluminum bits add no value and, if overdone, can subtract value. Karl
