Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I'm going to Montreal for some Skip Barber classes at Mont Tremblant, and I need some advice: -Is it ok to speed in that area or are the cops vicious? -Is it legal to have a radar detector in the car? I know, I know, street racing is dangerous, and I'm not going to drive like a maniac, I just want to go fast if it's safe. TIA

Leon: You're driving your C4 all the way to Canada? Sounds like quite a drive... Peter Liao

No no, I'm flying into Montreal but driving from Montreal to Mont Tremblant

POST 4Original post

Leon, I know I'm not the Canadian advice you were looking for, but for what it's worth, everytime I drive up to LCMT I never take down my radar detector. They do patrol the road {A15} to LCMT from Montreal from time to time so do be carefull, but the locals do seem to move right a long {at least 10mph over the limit}.

POST 5Original post

Leon, Being just west of the Quebec border, I'm in and out quite often and frequent the areas that you want to know about. Montreal and surroundings are not the autobahn, though it ought to be, and from experience I find it to be amongst the worst for being picked up speeding or any other traffic violation. It's true, the 'locals' do cruise around at higher speeds, but, and this is key, they have the Quebec provincial license plate. An Ontario or stateside plate will leave little relief if you're caught in the act. However, 10 miles per hour over the limit is the highest I would go. Radar detectors are illegal but used. Be warned, they wont take it lightly if you're caught with one. There will most definitely be some fast drivers and if you can hang with them, just be careful. matt

I will be driving a rental car (mustang Cabriolet) that I will pick up at the Montreal airport. I assume it will have "local" plates. Thanks for all the advise.
