Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Man! These guys are driving me crazy. Need some help putting pressure on them if you agree with me, or finding a way around this. Here's the issue. I bought a 99-996 from a friend {the 2'nd owner} who had it serviced at Winner Porsche in Newark DE. The 1'st owner also had it serviced there {a friend of the 2'nd owner} since new. First they refused to give the 2'nd owner any copies of the service records. It is their rule to only give one copy at the time the car is serviced. If the owner looses that copy, too bad, policy is not to release any additional copies. After many calls all the way up the chain, I got them to agree to an exception on this rule. Now they refuse to give the 2'nd owner any copies of the service records of the 1'st owner. Now I guess I have to go back up the chain all over again! I think this is a pretty big re-sale issue. I certainly plan on selling my 01 with a full set of records and I'd expect my dealer to give me anything I'm missing. Has anyone had this problem with their dealer? I talked with mine {Nashua} and they said they had never heard of this policy and certainly don't practice it themselves.

Service records are vin recorded and can be accessed from any dealers computer

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've been told this is NOT true. ONLY warranty work can be retreived from a dealers computer.

POST 4Original post

Only warranty records can be accessed by a different dealer. Maintenance and non warranty repairs are only recorded in the performing dealers system. If your seller has any pull and a good repore with Winner I would have him call them for the records. You, not being a customer of theirs, are probably not getting the help you deserve. I have never heard of such a policy but I would imagine they have a reason. PS. Another reason to be polite to your dealer. You just might need them someday
