Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I lost a set of keys last night and was wondering what sort of hassle I'm facing for a replacement (cost, wait, etc). Also, the led for the transmitter on my spare flashes but doesn't talk to the receiver that arms the car, unlocks doors, etc. What could this be? TIA

POST 2Original post

must go to dealer and have him reprogram it. Nice rims where did you get them?

POST 3Original post

The cheapest is the valet key. The normal key is a lot more $$. It takes a few hours for the dealer to program the key also.

POST 4Original post

It takes 5 minutes to program a new key head. Your dealer has to get a key learning code from Atlanta. Seems like Porsche does not like every person with with a PST2 to do this unless there is a record of the request. You also need to fax a request to Atlanta for certain other codes. Jeff

POST 5Original post

Had to get a new key for mine. The vin number will get you the key (took a couple of weeks) with the correct grooves cut into it and that, I assume, will let you unlock the door and start the car but as mentioned it must be programmed by the dealer if you want the remote to work. The dealer charged 20 minutes. Colin
