Just picked up a self dimming inside mirror for my 996. Dealer says it's a 4.5 hour charge for him to install. I've read hear in the past others have done it themselves. How big a job is it?? Any instructions or tips would be appreciated. Andrew 03 C4 Cab

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

We put one in on a Boxster and filmed it. It did not take us that long and we had never done it before. Get the TSB that has the instructions and see if it is something you want to try yourself, which was issued on 6/24/99. You will also need the page from the wiring diagrams that show relay support 1 as the 2 wires for the mirror are connected to bridges on the relay support tray and the TSB does not have this diagram. Hey Jeff I have asked this and many other people have asked the same question. When will that bad a$$ DVD be available and how much are you asking for it?
take a look at this RV Mirror w/ Homelink AND a compass. This is next on my shopping list! <a href="http://www.mitocorp.com/homelink_mirrors.htm" target="_blank">http://www.mitocorp.com/homelink_mirrors.htm</a> The product is made <a href="http://www.gentex.com." target="_blank">www.gentex.com.</a>
The final video shoot was yesterday as I wanted to have footage of a 4/3 spoke steering wheel swap and one of our local guys picked up a 3 spoke steering wheel. This is done on digital video and then converted to a DVD. Problem is is that there are 8 hours of video projects and I want them on 3 DVDs and they have to be compressed or something and then it looks good on some DVD players but not others. I know nothing about this stuff and do not even own a digital video. My friend Henry is the one who is going to make it work but it takes a great deal of time. Shooting the video while we work on cars is easy, it is what comes after that takes forever. Henry spend a lot of money on equipment and software so he gets paid back first. Anything left over will go for beer and pizza for the next set of videos we will be doing. I would like to include more 996 projects. Anyone have the wiring diagram Tool Pants mentioned above??
Porsche has not yet published the MY03 wiring diagrams. There were quite a number of changes in MY03 especially with the new MOST bus system. We would have to hope that a MY02 will is the same.
