Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was just wondering how does a rev limiter work really? cut off the power on the sparks? wouldnt this be bad for the engine crank to have such a sudden cut of boost and then back again and then off again at such a high frequency?! even other mechanical parts that are moving at their extremes? just wondering.. Waz *yes am hitting redline more often, spank me!*

POST 3Original post

I agree, think its a fuel cut off by the injectors.

POST 4Original post

Yes, it starves the engine by cutting off fuel. So long as you hit redline while accelerating there shouldn't be too much damage, if any. Just don't hit it by downshifting into the wrong gear <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
