Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I checked out a used 996 recently & noticed that the clutch makes a very noticeable mechanical sound...you can hear with windows down (btw - I'm not referring to the normal clicking sound when depressing clutch pedal). Is this normal?

POST 2Original post

I have heard my 99 996 do this from time to time as well. It sounds like something needs lubrication or something as it sounds like a slight creeking sound.

POST 3Original post

Depending on the year of your car there are a number clutch spring/pedal updates for squeaks and other noises.

POST 4Original post

kewl I will have to make note of it when I take it in for the 30k service soon. Is that a warranty tsb deal or will it cost? thanks.

POST 5Original post

porsche has a tsb for this clutch release collar-creaking noise dated 7/00 #3041 for cars produced before 4-19-2000 they will pull the trans and install the updated release arm bob

POST 6Original post

Thanks for the info. I will present it as an issue when I do my 30k service. Sean
