Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Today my roommate and I both experienced strange problems with our Porsches. He has an 02 C4S and I have a 99 C2 Coupe. His car stumbled and lost power and nearly stalled several times and my car would just die unexpectedly but without stumbling or rough idle. I also noticed low oil pressure in my car. Its very weird that both of our cars acted this way. All I could come up with was that they had presure washed the garage in our building the day before including underneath the cars. Could that have caused this?

The 996 model has had a number of advances integrated, many of which are controlled by sensitive computers mounted on chips (as opposed to mechanical components). Some of these chips are shrouded by body panels, whereas others (I believe) are located in the engine compartment at the back. If, while spraying the car from the underneath, water either touched these components, or other sensitive ares of the car, they could have affected the driveability of the cars. The other cause could simply be a flooding of the engine. If the problem persists, I would take it to a Porsche dealer right way. Regards.
