Here are the details for this Saturday, February 22nd. So far we have about 18-20 cars attending. Corvettes (C5's), Porsches and a few other german cars. The weather will be sunny and clear. Sorry east coast folks!!! You could always move to California just for the weekends. Meet at 9:30 am at Almaden Plaza parking lot behind the Red Lobster (across from Barnes and Noble). Almaden Plaza is located at the intersection of CA-85 and Almaden Expressway (G8) in San Jose. See directions below. We leave at 9:45 am for a nice ride on foothill back roads, over Heckor Pass to Watsonville. Mike will join us enroute. The first rest stop will be at the Salinas River State Beach. From this point, Mike will lead us to Pebble Beach for lunch at 12:30 pm. After lunch we have time set up at 2:30 to meet Gordon McCall at McCall Motorsports in Monterey. http://www.mccallmotorsports.com/ Bring your FRS radios, channel 10 sub channel 0. Looking forward to great fun! Let me know if you have questions, Directions from the east bay: I-680 or I-880 I-680 south: take CALAVERAS BLVD/CA-237 west towards central Milpitas/Mountain View. Continue thru Milpitas, cross over I-880 and stay to the left and merge onto CA-237/Mountain View-Alviso Rd. (If you come south on I-880, take CA-237 west towards Mountain View (Mt View-Alviso Rd) Continue on CA-237 approx 9 miles. You will cross over CA-101 near Moffet Field. Take CA-85 south towards Los Gatos/Santa Cruz. Continue south on CA-85 approx 16 miles. Stay in the left two lanes as you approach the I-280 intersection. Pass under the Stevens Creek Blvd sign to stay on CA-85. Take the Almaden Expressway (G8) exit. Turn left at the stoplight. You will see Barnes and Noble on the right. Approx 0.1 miles, turn right onto Almaden Expressway. Just past the Red Lobster, turn right into the parking lot. At the stop sign, turn right again and look to the right for some nice looking sports cars. The above route seems the most straight forward. If you choose to take I-680 south to San Jose, continue on to I-280 north. At CA-17 take the Santa Cruz exit. Continue on CA-17 to CA-85. Go south on CA-85 towards Gilroy. See above for the Almaden Expressway exit. Let me know if you have not confirmed so we can get you in the headcount for lunch at Pebble Beach. See everyone this Saturday. Bring your camera!!

So jealous... about the group drive on the twisty roads, not the weather. I am hoping for a job transfer to the Central Valley region, perhaps I will be able to participate in another year or so.. Have fun.

Thanks to the Porsche drivers that showed up. As a former C5 owner I am back home with my 6th Porsche. But, the friends I made while on the "dark side" are still pretty cool to hang out with. The weather was perfect and the lunch and visit to Gordon's shop really topped it off. Here are some more pictures from the trip. http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/dawson_m/lst?.dir=/0302pebblebeach&.src=ph&.order=&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/dawson_m/vwp%3f.dir=/0302pebblebeach%26.dnm=DSCN0028. jpg%26 .src=ph http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/magredtoo/lst?.dir=/2-22-03&.view=t Stay tuned for the next ride. Either a wine run to Napa Valley or Tony' Seafood in Tomales Bay. The bbq'ed oysters are awesome!!!!
