I love watching these type of shows. The topic this time was The Autobahn. They showed how it was originally named Adolf Hitler road and when it first opened, it was averaging only about 1 car per minute per mile of the road! It was also pointed out that even with half of the Autobahn free from speed limits, the accident rate is .72 compared to .84 for the US Interstates.(Sorry, I forget the exact units of measure but relatively speaking...). Of course, the highlight of the show to me was watching a beautiful yellow, 996 Ruf R-Turbo that was bought by someone in England and had to be certified as to its top speed. So, some Ruf engineer had the "task" of taking the car on the Autobahn and just letting her rip. "So how was work today honey? Oh same old-same old. Had to certify another car today.... " God, what a tough way to make a living! Anyway, even with having 2 additional guys with camera equipment in the car, the Ruf got upto 212 MPH .Kinda like watching Carlos from Spain's video but in better color and sound They had the camera trained on the digital speedo and I would say that the acceleration was pretty much brutal till about 200 when it took a while to get up there. If only I could be so lucky as to own an R-Turbo one day (~$200K)....The sounds of the engine, the beauty of the German landscape (and not to mention the intentional curviness of the Autobahn), the smoothness of the surface (it is twice as "thick" as the US Interstates), and the fact that all this is totally legal makes me wanna say goodbye to Chicago and ship the C2 to Germany for a "driving vacation"!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. I saw that show sometime ago. One of the things that I remember was that Hitler also designed the Autobahn so that aircraft could land on parts of it as well.....interesting!
I saw it. I would guess they need to annouce road construction 50 miles in advance!!
That show was excellent!! After watching that show it is no surprise why Germans make the best cars. Necessity really is the mother of all inventions/innovations.
Well just as a side note, the Autobahn does have a posted speed limit with that maxing out at 130kph its just if you crash going faster than posted limits you get slammed with consequences. Doesn't stop me from averaging 140 when i cruise it. harrY
