Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any pictures of this color? Is it really purple?

POST 2Original post

There is one on ebay right now and yes it is a dark purple. A buddy had one locally for a while and it looked good but the interior would be a little too much for me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2401458659&category=10156

Scott: Like that one for a rapper singer it's ok!

POST 4Original post

until now i didn't think a porsche could be made to look ugly! what a horrible color! especially the dashboard and steering wheel!

POST 5Original post

Come on, color aside it's still a good low mileage Porsche! Bid Away!

POST 6Original post

sky-- you must be kidding! a purple convertible top over a purple body! no wonder the mileage is low! no one in their right mind would want to be seen in this monstrocity! i would never have expected to say this about a porsche until now! i'm surprised that the factory even accepted this order! even a purple dash and steering wheel with white seats! barf! not even barney the dinosaur could drive this thing with a straight face!

POST 7Original post

The pics of that car linked to above are kinda misleading. I've seen a few of these Amethyst cars with the light interiors. They are not as "Barney" colored as this car appears in the photos. The purple, especially in the interior, is more subdued and not as bright (or washed out as in the eBay photos). Yes, very early 1990's look, but much easier on the eyes in person than in these photos. Jay 90 964

POST 8Original post

Ignacio -- I think you hit the nail on the head, this is barney on wheels! Or in other words, if barney was a car .... Here is a question for all -- If some one gave you this car with the stipulation that it must be your daily driver [and you couldn't have it repainted], would you accept the gift?

POST 9Original post

sky-- you pose a cruel choice--the idea of a free porsche is very tempting--BUT in the end how could one maintain one's self respect walking up to THAT every day? i'd think i'd pass up the offer at this point in my life but if i were younger...who knows? i'm glad this is a dilema i never had to face

POST 10Original post

there are already 9 separate bidders on barney! the bids have exceeded $20k! i guess there's more of a market for this beast than i imagined. the fact that the car currently resides in las vegas, though does not surprise me.

POST 11Original post

vindication! failed to sell at $21,700! i know there's an *** for every seat but this one may be hard to match
