POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i have received my M3 that i ordered 3 months ago, it's sitting at the dealership, I have come across a 996 with aerokit 2001 with 9000 miles , 2 owners, in Florida, the M3 is in California & ready for delivery. I already have a yellow 95 M3 yellow that i am keeping. which route should i take , the New m3 or the 996 porsche yellow? should i be worried about the used 01 Porsche, any problems with that year car? If the 2 owner is ok, i can have the champion porsche in Florida check it out for damage, flood, etc. here are the pictures, porsche: http://68.4.131.38:81/01-996-Yellow-Aero-008.jpg M3 will look like the 1st one: http://68.4.131.38:81/lameet2.jpg If the dealer checks out fine, is there a need for me to fly there & check it out in Person & fly back. Please give me any feedback, anything i should watch for, advice, etc. this is gonna be my 1st porsche. i appreciate you reading into this. Shipping is another 1500.00 enclosed from florida to CAlifornia.

I mean really? Of course you take Porsche! What kinda questions is this? If you're a 'car guy' and no what 'real driving' is, this needs no explanation, that's just how it is.

Speed Yellow and lowered is fly hoopty - What do ya think we're gonna say? "I already have a yellow 95 M3 yellow that i am keeping." Why do you need two M3s? If you want a sportscar, take the 996.

POST 4Original post

buy the 996! the only problem is that your old m3 may begin to rust from disuse. seriously though, be sure that your car is thoroughly checked out by champion then consider driving it back yourself by the southern route! what a great trip that would be! buying another m3 would be sooo dullll!!

POST 5Original post

Yes, I have to agree with the previous posts...if you want a compromise, buy the BMW, if you want the whole 9, get the 996, trust me, YOU WON'T REGRET IT...

POST 6Original post

The 996 is much more of a drivers car. Plus it will give you some variety! The M3 is a terrific car, dont get me wrong, but with the 996 you truly get a driver to road experience. Good luck with the choice! P.S. Asking this question on a Porsche forum is probably not going to get you the most un-biased answers -Andrew

POST 7Original post

No offense but - If you have to ask, save the Porsche for someone who knows the answer already. I would choose a Porsche over a BMW (except maybe a 924)any day.

Man buy the Porsche! I guarantee that you will tire of the M-3 after a while and want something, more involving to drive, more fun to drive, and generally more exciting. The Porsche is all of that and more.Take it from someone who owned 8 BMW'S in a row 5 of them Mcars I thought when I bought my first Porsche that it would be a lot ike a BMW ,but ,it isn't, it is a whole different experience, and the people, who own them, are just great to hang with, and play with, and race with!

POST 10Original post

It's funny though. I am going through the same decision. Well, I've chosen the 996! The M3 is great but I think you have the best M3 the E36 is the best M3. The E46 is so soft. I'd keep the E36 M3 and throw an Active Autowerke turbo on it for 10K. Then have the 996 for an awesome change! -996-

POST 11Original post

This a joke, right? That yeller 996 is awesome looking with the aero package. I ALMOST bought a yeller 996, but my wife nixed the deal because of color. I think it's a great color. If you don't have a wife like mine, get and or you'll regret it. What did you do??? Did you make your decision already? Steve

POST 12Original post

Here's a little story for you regarding these two cars. A friend of mine bought a 996 cab in June of last year and after about 6 weeks of ownership, sold it because he wanted his brothers M3 cab. He came to see me last week, took one look at my 996 (with aerokit) and decided there and then that he wanted a Porsche again because (exact quote) "everyone's got a 3 series BMW". He's also having one with the aerokit on. You've gotta get the Porsche, but then deep down you know that already, admit it, you want the Porsche, go on say it. Say out loud "I want the Porsche". Feel better? Good, now go get that Porsche.

POST 14Original post

My guess is that he got the Beeemurrr and has left the building never to be heard from again. Send a search party out to the BMW board, perhaps he can be found there.

POST 16Original post

I am lucky enough to have them both. Even though currently I have a TT I have owned two regular 996 coupes. The M3 is a fun car to drive, fast, handles great and is all around a great car. The 996 coupe imo is whole different ball game. The 996 handles substatially better than the M. Overall it feels like a much more solid car. The engine sound is great and I also enjoy the exhaust note. Getting the 996 will be a decision you will not regret. If the 996 is in the south Florida area I would be glad to go over and take a look at for you if you are really serious about buying it. Shoot me an email if you decide to go that route.

M3 looks like a fixed up 3 series. Get 996, its no brainer.
