Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Snakeii: LOL,....this might get expensive in terms of cost-per-HP but you do have a few choices. 1) Chip (properly done, of course) 2) Factory Power kit; about 325+ HP. 3) Some find of forced induction kit; Caveat Emptor. Beyond that, its GT-3 time,.........
So it sounds like forced induction is the way to go. Who has done it?
I believe what Steve may have been trying to tell you is that the 996 engine has had most of the useable HP already wrung out of it without getting into a big expense (25HP for $15K with the retrofit X51), or getting into probably unreliable if not engine blow-up probable mods (forced induction). You will be better off making performance enhancements to the brakes, suspension, tires, etc. For that there is a lot on this board. Just do a search.
So the question is, has anyone done TPC?

It is not a strong motor to begin with and it really can't handle the additional stress very well. You can't really squeeze that much more power out of it. I know of two people in LAwho've tried supercharging their 996 and they ended up with blown engines. There's a reason why 996 motors sell for $10k new from the factory. You're better off selling your car and buying a used 996TT with the money.
