Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, I am considering purchasing a used 996 that is still under the factory warranty. I want to extend it to the 6 year/100,000 mile program. How do I go about doing this? I am assuming you can do this anytime while the car is still under the original factory warranty. Can I go to any Porsche dealer to extend the warranty? What is the cost of extending? Is the cost fixed through Porsche or is it determined by greed of each dealer? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

The "Porsche" warranty can not be extended in the US. You can buy a 3rd party warranty extension and most dealers sell one. It might make more sense to shop around though. See the thread below on warranties.
