Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have an 02 car. Sunroof works perfectly, backwards forwards and tilts. No problem. The only problem is that when it is tilted up the roof lining rectangle stays level and doesn't raise with the metal part of the roof. The roof lining panel can be pushed up to the right position (when the metal roof is tilted up) but it just comes back down. As if it should be only clips or something to hold it up. Has anyone ever removed the lining panel so that they can see where it fixes into the sunroof itself? Many thanks for any help. If anyone can see inside theirs, should A or B possibly clip into C to hold the panel up?

Just had my sunroof off. In your picture C should clip on A. There is a procedure to get it right. Don't try force, it might damage the sunroof. You need to unclip the inner panel first. 1. Close the sunroof completely and then tilt it (the button in the middle). Push the inner panel backwards gently to unclip it from the front clips. Maybe you can use one hand from inside and one from the outside. Be GENTLE, there are some plastic stuff that breaks easily (I can not see them on your picture however so maybe they are gone already... But originally there are a plastic slider on each side with some plastic fabric stuck into the inner panel of the sunroof. I have no qlue why actually)). 2. Position the inner panel about 2 inches from the front of the "hole in the roof". 3. Close the sunroof completely. 4. Push the inner panel forward to the edge WITHOUT pushing upwards to much. 5. open sunroof about 3 inches and push the inner panel until it engages in the front hooks. That should be it! Good luck

wow, only a few hours after I posted and the perfect reply comes in Thanks for the instructions, just been outside, did exactly what you said and it works a treat. I am soooo pleased, you've saved me a lot of hassle. Cheers. By the way, I think the black thin plastic triangular bits are to hide the hinges etc when it is tilted from being seen from in the car. Not really necessary. Thanks again

Great! You are welcome! I struggled a little bit before I managed to install mine after I had it off, so I had to learn... Robert
