Hey everybody, My dad and i just picked up a 2002 C4 cabriolet 2 days ago. Meridian/metropolitan. My questions are, do any of you guys have any motor oil recommendations for filling up between oil changes and did any of you find it a little difficult to heal and toe? I find the break and gas pedal to be a little too far apart. Also, anything a new owner should look out for? Thanks.

It's detailed in your owners manual MOBIL 1
Meridian/Metropol sounds beautiful, any options? what kind of deal / discount did you strike with your dealer ? post some pics sounds really nice....
Mobil 1...i didn't see the manual specify the brand, only the grades. But all is good, I had picked up some mobil 1 the other day. As far as options, it has a full leather interior, bose audio system, 18' carrera wheels, xenons, lo-jack, carcraft teflon coated paint (does this really work?) and i think that's about it. MSRP $99,850 Paid $103,000 out the door. Sound like a resonable deal? Only one pic for now...that's my M3 in the background.
That is a really nice color combination...and a great shot. I like the two cars juxtaposed next to each other. Enjoy the car. I hope Dad gives you a chance to drive it. Not because of the age...but because he'll be enjoying it so much. Time to add the clear side-markers, though. Regards.
Thanks for the compliments guys. My dad is so anti modifications, i don't think the car will ever get clear side markers. I've driven the car a few times this weekend, but i'm not going to get many chances to drive it unfortunately, because i'm usually off at collage. Funny thing is, i am much more excited about the porsche than my dad is. Honestly, I'm the one that convinvced him to get one. But from the little time spent behind the wheel, all i can say is, "The ultimate driving machine" is no longer a BMW. In other words, the 996 puts my well-modded M3 to shame. The gearbox, among other things, is a dream to operate. Every shift is just perfect. I can't wait until the porsche is broken in so i can see what it can really do.
I'm like you Dad w/ modifications, but clear side markers are so easy and cheap. ($30 / 10 minutes) I did it in my garage. It makes the car look so much cleaner on colors like yours. I have Seal Grey / Metropol. I think it came out great. Sorry for the length, but 2 before and 2 after pics to follow... Then after
I must say, your car looks very clean. When i remarked about the side markers, my dad simply said "I like a littel color." So much for clears. Ah well.
Scott in Houston, some great shots. I love Seal Gray. My favorite color after Arctic Silver. Is that an M3 I see reflected off of the 996. What, are you an Krazy brothers, or is that just a natural evolution in the US. Regards.
haha. I just now noticed that reflection. Good eye and thanks for the compliment on the color. I love Seal Gray. I had Ocean Blue on my last car (2000 C2) and after that wanted low maintenance! Seal Gray is easy to keep looking nice and gives a good color back. The car in the reflection is not an M3, but it's a 2001 330i with the sport package which includes the M wheels. It's my wife's car and she refuses to learn to drive a standard transmission. That limits the number of performance car options for her, but that 330i is a blast to drive. It feels solid as a rock and handles almost as well as my car! Is that your Arctic Silver car in your 'avatar'? If so, very nice. I want to get an avatar w/ my car in it, but I'm not sure how yet. <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />
You know... Father's Day is just around the corner. What father could resist the thoughtful gift of clear markers? Cheers, Chris
was the lo-jack included in the drive away price? Was someone sent out to perform the instalation?
You know what, that was something i was wondering about. Is the lo-jack preinstalled? I ask because it was included in the price. No one was sent out to install it. Time for a call to the dealer.
If the lo-jack was preinstalled you should have had package of info from them... Did you get the hardtop for the car?
Going back to your original question about oil: I just had my 15,000 mile service done on the 1999 996 and they put it 0-40 Mobil 1 (Yes, ZERO FORTY). I had never heard of this weight but in is what the dealer said is suggested for the "enthusiastic driving" styles and for this climate (New England)
