Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will be ordering in a little over two weeks. I have checked out five Porsche dealers. Four of them want MSRP. Of these four, weather or not, they have allocation is uncertain. The fifth dealer has offered me a $2500 discount and I am almost certain they have allocation to order. So, here is my little problem: I know of someone else who recently bought a Porsche from the fith dealer with an MSRP about $10k less than the car I plan to buy. He received a $4000 discount. How would you proceed?

POST 2Original post

If the other buyer had same exact car ie options that you are getting then I would pose this to the dealer but it's possible that the other C4S was on the floor rather then ordered so they do offer discounts if car is in the premises. But definitely I would ask. Regards. Mike

POST 3Original post

You won't get it if you don't ask for it. But (there is always a "but" to everything), review the other aspects related to car purchase and car maintenance and see how the dealers match up. From past experience, I've learned to pay a certain premium (read: less discount) for the added benefits and service I would get during the car ownership. It's been more than amply reimbursed over the years. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with going to your favored dealer and tell them that you'd prefer to buy from them if they can match the lowest price you were able to find. Ohsixx. You had better let us all know what car, color, options, etc, you eventually bought, as well as post TONS of pictures. Otherwise....

POST 4Original post

orders typically discount less than cars on the lot, which way was your friends car purchased? I have a 2003 on order w/ X51 (limited avail option). I am very happy to be getting about 2% off on a 100k car.

POST 5Original post

As Palting pointed out "IF YOU DONT ASK YOU DONT GET". GO FOR IT. No shame in bargaining. We are talking $$$ here. Get the best price you can get. Good luck.

POST 6Original post

Sometimes you'll get a better deal by offering something with pen in hand willing to "close" the deal rather than just asking for pricing. IOW, when you're finally ready to sign ask for your deal and be prepared to sign right then.
