Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This one came with the X-51 engine? Which is basically an "S" engine? Correct? (Bumped from about 320 to about 345 bhp and corresponding torque bumps)? Correct? Were the brakes the same or did they go to larger ones? Was the transmission the same? Was the final drive ratio the same? Was the suspension the same? Seems to me this kind of light bump would not be a big deal but just wondering what, if anything, Porsche did when bumping from C2 to C2S to 40th Anniversary. And, what, if anything you guys think. Thanks in advance, JKC

POST 2Original post

Yes, yes, Yes, yes. Not larger, yes, yes. For a little more money you would be better to get a C4S. Much better suspension, more TT parts and upgrades. The 40th was much ado about nothing. (I looked at one before I bought a C4S)

POST 3Original post

Power is up to 345hp Transmission is the same but get a LSD final drive. Brakes are the same Suspension is MOW sports shocks, with US spec (longer springs), and MOW sway bars I think. Different leather seats and a few other options. I have one, they are great, a for me a perfect mix of a C2 and a GT3, better than a C2, not as extreme as a GT3

POST 4Original post

I must disagree with KrazyK but then again I my be a bit biased. C2 40th AE = X51 has headers, different cams, reworked heads & valves, ecu remap, intake, and is power is much more substantial than the 25hp bump on paper would appear, full leather interior, LSD, turbo front cap and radiators, special rims C4S = heavier more complicated drivetrain w/ less hp engine (i.e. slower) but does have a nice ***

POST 5Original post

There is no C2S n e 996 range. The only "S" car in the range is the C4S, which has the same 320 HP engine as the other 996 MK II cars. The brakes, suspension and transmission found on the 40th anniversary cars are identical to other C2 models with a few upgrades, as mentioned above. The engine is X51, which is 345 HP. The 40th anniversary car is fairly rare, and it's a beautiful car.

POST 6Original post

There are also subtleties in the oiling too... baffles, IIRC.

POST 7Original post

Yep, forgot that dual oil pickups and a baffled deep sump.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. Not looking at getting one. Just curious. JKC

I have one in Atlanta, let me know if you have any other questions or want to see one.
