So I found this interesting. As a member of PCA I was mailed an opportunity to obtain the 911 commemorative plaque. Naturally being a gearhead I thought this was beyond cool and immediately put in my request. It arrived yesterday and I assembled the transparent plastic cards in order on the stand and read through the new 911 spec book. All very well done. When I looked closer at the plaque it shows the 964 model as starting in 1988. I didnt think that was correct so I wanted to see if anyone else got this set and get their thoughts. Im thinking this is in error as the first 964 variant came out in 89. Anyo one else have this?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I have seen that set and the intro dates are the start of production in Germany. That is also the case for the 996 shown as 1997 yet the US did not see this car till 1999 MY. Typically the new models are one year later to the US market.
The 964 C4 was first available in Europe in 1988, coming to the US as a 1989 model - though it may have been availalbe as early as the fall of '88. Likewise, the 996 date references the Europe debut date of 1997, rather than the U.S. 1998 date. Remember that in the US, the next year's models used to be debuted in August or September of the previous year. Now releases are not so regimented.

I should have joined PCA. That thing is sweet.
Mine just arrived today! March 13th so they are still sending them out.
I got the card in the mail months ago. I sent in my request, and I was informed that they were sold out and they wouldn't be shipping any more.
i did not think mine would arrive, but it did last week. looks good on the desk, and the 991 book is nice too. i filled out the request a long time ago.
would you believe that mine is missing the 1963 piece. I have two 1973's. Figures!
