Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, The engine in my car died recently (scored cylinder) and I need to have it shipped to get it repaired. Has anyone made a crate for a 996 3.4 l engine? Does anyone know the maximum exterior dimensions of the engine and ancillaries without the exhaust cans? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Just strap it down with racheting 1" straps to a standard wood pallet.

POST 4Original post

I've never shipped an engine, but when I have equipment/machinery shipped I usually have the shipper construct a crate on site. If you can get away with strapping and a pallet that will be the cheapest by far. If not, the crate they build on site can usually withstand a small bomb blast. -Shawn
