Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I drive a 98 C2 Tiptronic, I'm looking to widen the track for appearance. I've read a number of different posts on this forum, but I'm looking to simplify my decision. My options are either 5mm all round (Original Porsche) or 7mm front with 15mm rear (Non Porsche). My rear tyres are 285/35/18. Does anyone have any before and after pics??? Many thanks

POST 2Original post

These pics aren't the best, but maybe they will help. I have 7mm/15mm H&R's. First pic without spacers.

POST 3Original post

which lugnuts did you buy? H&R has them backordered for 4-6 weeks.. any other suppliers?

POST 4Original post

I bought chrome lugs, from the H&R distributor that I bought my spacers from: Wheeltec, Miami. [phone removed]. Randy.

POST 5Original post

I got 7mm and 15mm from FVD...the bolts and spacers come together in one kit..... http://www.fvd-web.com/fvd-usa/

POST 6Original post

WLee69 - Do the longer bolts need to be pressed in to the back side of the Axle shaft? I am new to Porsche's and not sure? Thanks.

POST 7Original post

Jeev - Not sure what you mean by "pressed" into the backside of the axle shaft...but let me see if I describe things if that will help..... there are no studs thats come out of the hub where by you attached "nuts" to the bolt...the bolts for the wheels go directly into the hub...so with the spacers on, they just give you longer bolts so that the same amount of bolt goes into the hub as when you didn't have the spacers mounted.... Not sure this answers you question, so write back if you are still not sure... Thanks

POST 8Original post

Okay I understand. So unlike other car that have studs "pressed" into the hub P-cars just have bolts that go through the wheel and are threaded into the hub. Hmmm I am going to go out to my garage and pull a wheel off right now...... Learn something new every day. By any chance do you know the torque specs on the wheel bolts for a 2000 996? Thanks.
