Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi i have done some serious searches and have come up with 2 options. 2002 yellow with tail/rocker panels/h&r suspension and 18" wheels. 22000 miles. this car looks awesome... negatives are: warranty up dec 05. 2003 grey with 18" wheels. 23000 miles warranty 03/07 the 02 is more $$$ than 03. the yellow is very nice but concerns are that re-sale might be limited...and in your face...here i am attitude.. the 03 will need extras to be added on...has the warranty and might be easier re-sale my gut says 02... my heart says 03.... please help

POST 2Original post

Go with your gut. Never buy on emotion....it usually comes back to break your heart.

POST 3Original post

Assuming both are in similar great condition; and you like the grey as much as the yellow; go for the longer warranty period...for sure. I don't know about you, but a couple of "yellow" owners tend to get fatigued with yellow over time. But I'm not sure about that. Given the price, the newer year, and the warranty...where's the dilemma? Or, buy them both.

POST 4Original post

You could always add the modifications to the grey car. You could get and extended warranty for the yellow one. Compare cost to make them relatively equal and then compare so you are comparing nearly identical cars and warranty. After that, decided what color you like more and if it is worth the difference in cost. Easier said than done. Good luck and don't look back.

POST 5Original post

How big is the price difference? Enough to cover adding the suspension and aero pieces to the grey one? Then it really comes down to color vs warranty. Color is a personal choice, and warranty is a financial risk. I'd choose the grey one with the warranty, but I've been accused of being boring and risk-averse.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks dmac yea i have done that and it get's even more confusing

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

gnome yes it comes down to color and year difference......i am conservative and feel the grey is the better buy from a re-sale point of view? thanks

POST 9Original post

Just from the little you have told us (ex factory options, in service date etc) sounds like a slam dunk for Gray...........if you like the color as well.

POST 10Original post

What are the options missing in the 03 that you'd want? If it's something that you can live without or add for cheap, go w 03.

POST 11Original post

Get whatever color you like best - much more important then resale IMHO.

POST 12Original post

Just imagine walking out into your garage, which one do you want to be there? The minor differences won't add up to getting the one you want. Get the one you want the first time.

POST 13Original post

I love yellow, get that one. But also get an extended warranty just in case - Highly recommended.

POST 14Original post

I recently got a artic silver, but should have gotten a yellow. There are tons of silver cars in general out there, and a sports car should "stand out" in the crowd imho. If you need a little privacy, then go with grey/silver. If you dont mind ppl looking, then definitely go with yellow.

POST 15Original post

Decide on the color first and look for the right car. The color is too important compromise. You will also long for the other color. Speed Yellow is an awesome color and just looks incredible on a 911. However be prepared for owning a car that stands out from the crowd. There is no blending in. I owned a speed yellow 993 (not a daily driven car). I live a portion of the country where Porsches are rare, so needless to say speed yellow stood out even more and usually resulted in someone saying...hey I saw you on in the Target parking lot last night, etc. While it didn't really bother me because I loved the car and the color, it became very apparent that the color got lots of attention (including from police officers and insects no kidding there were always insects sitting on my car when I came out from somewhere). When it came time to get the daily driven 996, speed yellow was not really an option. However, I will say that when and if the opportunity arises I would love to get another speed yellow Porsche that is not a daily driver.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for all the responses...i am going to look at the grey car and then decide...will keep you posted

POST 18Original post

Yellow. I really wanted a speed yellow car, but they were few and far between in this area. I bought a black one , which really looks sharp. As I posted before,my wife was not exactly thrilled with my purchase. We went by the dealer the other day and I pointed out a speed yellow car, saying that was what I really wanted. Her reply? "That would be awful!! This thing already draws too much attention." So, are you an extrovert? Do you mind drawing (additional) attention to yourself? If yes, go with the speed yellow. Otherwise, got with the gray. rob

POST 19Original post

I had A. Silver too. Silver is a very common color. I wanted to try something different this time. So I picked up a SY Coupe I love it. You are right though it is in your face but it looks SWEET! SG is a bit bland you will have fun with the Yellow also IMHO all 996 should have the aero kit (wing optional) the rockers and bumper make the car look sooooo much better.

POST 20Original post

Had a Yellow M3 cab, fell in love with it at the dealer, had to have it. Rationalized that it would excite me every time I walked up to it. In the end, it lasted about 1.5 years, and was mostly appreciated by my then 9 year old daughter and her friends. If you are using this for weekend or track duty only, go for it. If daily, buy a scale model...way cheaper! -- M

POST 21Original post

Yellow. Grey is not a playful color... most people will wear grey or black at your funeral.

POST 22Original post

Assuming that both cars are in good mechanical condition, I would pick the yellow. Why would you want your car looking like Kirby's.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

it seems the consensus is that if it is a week-end car go - yellow everyday low key...dont want your clients to see - grey thanks again for all responses. spikes

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
