Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, Is this thing worth anything? It no longer works from what I can tell. It had a black screen in my car and I replaced it. Is it worth posting for sale for parts anywhere? Or just throwing out with the trash. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Never had one but here is my take. Its old outdated tech would cost too much to repair 996 will never see 930 value so originality is not a concern. even if it was a cheap fix i dont think the maps can be update to todays maps. it is now a paperweight

POST 3Original post

I'm a massive original radio fan, you'll be kicking yourself one day if you throw it out... Why not just keep it with the car? Someone might want to invest the time/money to repair it for an original look. Also lets not turn this into a 996 value thread...

I agree. I have a working Nav 1 unit that came with my car. I removed it and replaced it with a CDR 220 along with the console delete. I will keep it in case the next owner would like it. Hard to believe it was a $3,600 option back in 1999.

Having been around the car game for 25 years, keep it. Great conversation piece and maybe you or someone else can use it in future. Last summer, I had guys come out to reinstate the attic at the cottage. They found an am radio gm, from late 60’s. Antenna and speaker too. I threw up an ad on kiji, like craigslist, an old timer has a 67 or 68:chevelle. He had been looking for an original radio for over 10 years. I mailed it to him for $30. I didn’t even want him to pay for shipping. I call it Car Carma. Maybe somebody will help me out.
