Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm having a tough time finding a brake control module. The Land Rover dealers claim it's not available as a factory accessry and the aftermarket folks don't want to touch it out of concern for the fancy electronics. Has anyone had any luck getting a brake controller for a 2003 or newer Range Rover?

POST 2Original post

We all know that a Range Rover only knows how to be towed. It would be totally confused in any other role.

The factory does not officially endorse adding non factory accessories. The factory offers a wiring kit for the lights. The reality is that plenty of people tow trailers with brakes with a Range Rover. Go to any local suppliers of hitches and they shoud be able to easily install a brake controller. I finally found a local shop (well, not THAT local..... it's 50 miles away) that's willing to do it. Most of the trailer/tow shops were intimidated by the RR's electronics or came across as having a reckless attitude about the job "With my pliers and hammer and scissors, I can make just about anything work." At any rate, perseverance prevailed.
