Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

For now. Shop called and said everything looks great on the PPI. Go fig... Shop also said that if they had the cash they would up the offer. Not sure if I am sad, happy, or confused. I know I will miss the car...but I also know if I work hard and press on, that GT3 is right around the corner. *sigh* C.

POST 2Original post

well that blows? Short term pain for perhaps long term gain. I wish you the best and hope you bust out and get the P-car of your dreams in the near future.

POST 3Original post

Chad, I can speak from experience and can tell you 10000000000% that moving to the GT3 is something that makes the wait all the more worth it. Granted I still kept my 996CAB, the GT3 scratches an itch that very things can

You sure you don't want to change your mind again?

No it's for the best. I think a GT3 is the future plan. In the meantime, I think I will pick up either an Audi A3 or GTI for daily running. I'll definitely hang in here to bother you guys. C.

POST 6Original post

My Daily is a 2000 GTI VR6 5 speed. It is the 3rd VR6 engine I've had the pleasure of owning. The car is still tight as day 1 and the engine has that nice spunky rush when it comes onto the cams. I'm at a 150k miles and counting and getting around 24 m per, 27 if I baby her. You could pick worst cars to deal with on a daily...

POST 7Original post

Well congrats and condolences at the same time. Hang in there man. You'll be back

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. I feel like I need a beer. I gotta say this though, I hope the new owner knows what they are getting. This is a rare beastie. And one that I believe might very well be worth something some day. One can only wonder. I'm getting a beer. C.

POST 9Original post

You know you are doing what you need to do, and as I said before, because of that, one will come back to you one day......but.....there always is that little part of you that says well if it doesn't pass a ppi... Hang in there, glad to see your experience will still be around to help us newer guys out.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks doods... There will be a GT3, oh yes...there will be.

Which? 996, 997, or like me, hanging on wishing for 998 GT3?

POST 13Original post

How long do you think it will be before you get the GT3?

I'd like to believe I appreciate the uniqueness of the vehicle. I can tell you I've spent many months looking for the right 996. Its tough to find one that's in great condition, has low miles, and has the no sunroof and LSD options. I can't wait to pick it up! Neil

POST 15Original post

As I said in the other thread, there are other fun cars that also happen to be cheaper than yours. I am sure that the GTI or equivalent will tide you over for the time being and will make the loss sting a bit less. Fun little cars.

Chad Why the GT3, and not a GT2 or TT? Just curious in your perspective, opinion and reasons. John

All the best on your business ventures. FYI... The A3 is a great car to boot around in. I had mine shipped from Atlanta last year.

IMHO GT3 are the best 996 ever made First of all, there's a "little" differences up to 6.000 rpm between Carrera and GT3 engine. You can rise till 8.200 rpm with an exciting power increase. The chassis is almost perfect to go on track, and besides you can improve it with some details to make it unbeatable in circuit. For daily driving the front spoiler is a bit lower but you can go with her with some confort TT is quite good but not the first option to go on track . GT2 is a beast. You need a very good handling to go fast. I don't know the reasons of Chad but all my friends who changed to GT3 said that It's best thing thet have done

POST 20Original post

Congats Chad(I think) on the sale. How was that beer?No doubt Neil(new owner) will enjoy all the upgrades and care you've given the white sunroofless beast. Go GT3!!

POST 21Original post

Chad what is the asking price for your ride if you don't mind me asking(pm me if you prefer)? I may have a interested party thanks David

What he said. And...the GT3 engine is probably one of the most robust street motors on the planet. I know of quite a few with 20K track miles and are still tickin just fun. With a chassis and a motor like that, YES PLEASE!! C.

David, Sorry. I do not work that way. I have accepted a deposit on the car and the buyer has already booked his flights. IMO, the deal is done. Unless of course...there is some ridiculous offer your friend wants to throw at me. C.

POST 25Original post

Chad... thanks for all the info sharing... youve done alot on the our forum. For some reasons, me and you think alike and must live on the same life path. Im also looking for a gt3... dont know when, but all I know is that its gonna happen. GL on your quest.

POST 27Original post

Why GT3 and anot a TT? OK for a track car, I hear the GT3 is great. For a daily driver the TT has more HP and AWD. What else do you need besides a drop top!

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5465529

I'm a track nut. The GT3 is a much more reliably potent track weapon. And, the TT is heavier and the handling is harder to dial in due to the AWD system. GT3 is a scalpel while the TT is a hammer. I prefer the scalpel. C.

no problem Chad - good luck with the sale

POST 30Original post

I also know someone looking for a sunroof delete early 996 if the deal falls through.
