Hi got a question. Have just purchased a MY99 996 with the factory original stereo. Call me ignorant to p-car lingo and mechanics but does this vehicle have the MOST system and am I able to upgrade to the PCM system to put it in the vehicle? I think somewhere I've seen that the PCM system was a MY01 introduction and wondered if it is retrofit-able to the MY99-early 01 996 models. Also what results have you guys gotten with aftermarket stereo head unit upgrades and speaker upgrades. Thanks Md_out!

No you don't have MOST. It is only in cars from MY03 onward. However, sine you DON'T have most, you can't easily install PCM1 (which was the first model). From what I've read retrofitting PCM1 is a BE-ATCH, and it was not a good as the newer version, PCM2. If you want a really nice 1-din DVD nav system, look at at the AVIC N1 from Pioneer.

Am still overseas serving in the military as a matter of fact and haven't even driven my new vehicle. Present sort of from the wife and family. So what is the difference if you mind me asking between the Pre-MOST and Post-MOST vehicles? Also if you say PCM1 is not that good compared to PCM-2 what are you refering to? Looks or function?
