Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My tip no longer shifts automatically into 5th gear; I must manually shift it there. It will downshift correcty, and upshift correctly all the way to 4th, but won't automatically shift into 5th anymore. This behavior started sporadically but is now persistant. Any clue as to cause and extent of repair? It's a '99 w/86K miles and no other problems. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

The fact your trans shifts into 5th (manually) probably rules out the trans as the problem. I bet the control module is causing the issure, take it to the dealer to see if there is a fault code.

POST 4Original post

When I get a manual, I will have to be Manny a.k.a. Tippy or artist formely known as Tippy, havent decided yet.

POST 5Original post

strange..........thats a new one to me ,,, without a tetser your only guesing

POST 6Original post

As long as you're not "Manny the Man Nanny" you're respected by me!!!!

POST 8Original post

Hey, I would leave it as it is! Mine annoyingly upshifts to 5th all the time when I don't want it to. I don't mind manually upshifting to 5th really. But if something is wrong, it's probably better to get it fixed soon, unless it doesn't do any harm.

POST 9Original post

Oh, you mean when it shifts into 5th at 35 MPH when you are trying to pass someone and you almost get rear-ended by a Geo Metro. It is sad when Honda Civics and Rav 4's can out accelerate our tips from the stoplight.

POST 10Original post

they can't!! tippy...I almost called you skippy!! Just put the pedal to the metal...and you will only see a very little speck in the rearview mirror...... I got a tip and yes it can be lazy....but if you get on it's tail it will GO!!

POST 11Original post

You are Absolutely CORRECT Nicolaas! Shame on Tippy to make that statement: "It is sad when Honda Civics and Rav 4's can out accelerate our tips from the stoplight" Make sure no Civic or Toyota guys see this, they will start rumors saying "even the Porsche owner admits they lose to us from the stoplight..."

POST 12Original post

I was drunk when I made that statement, j/k. Yes, you guys are right, I might start a RMS type epidemic on the internet.

POST 13Original post

Or you could combine those two names and become Tranny , but you may have people wondering about your sexual orientation!

POST 14Original post

Your new Avatar... please tell me I'm not the only who remembers Tippy the Turtle.

POST 15Original post

You guys are hilarious, this thread is officially hijacked. bdronsick - do what 99firehawk says and put it on the tester. Let us know what the problem is, I am very curious.
